About

What is the Municipal Committee?

A municipal committee is the grassroots, neighbor-to-neighbor level of a political party in New Jersey. The Berkeley Heights Republican Municipal Committee is made up of local residents — elected by their fellow voters — who organize the Republican Party's work here in town: registering and turning out voters, supporting candidates who share our principles, and giving residents a direct voice in their party.

Local and grassroots

The committee is your neighbors, not outside operatives. Its members live in Berkeley Heights and are chosen by Berkeley Heights voters.

Part of the Union County GOP

Berkeley Heights is one of the towns whose elected committee members together make up the Union County Republican Committee, the county-wide party organization.

A voice for voters

Through the committee, residents help shape the party's direction, its candidates, and its priorities — from the local level up.

Our Role

What the Committee Does — and How It's Elected

Committee members are elected by district. Berkeley Heights is divided into voting/election districts, and in the June primary the voters of each district elect their own Republican committee members to represent that district. Those members do the on-the-ground work of the party:

1

Organize & turn out voters

Register voters, share information, and get out the vote in every district each election.

2

Support good candidates

Back Republican candidates for local, county, and state office, and help fill ballot vacancies when they occur.

3

Represent the county party

Berkeley Heights' elected members sit on the Union County Republican Committee, which elects the county chair and sets county-level party direction.
